Quantum mechanics has been very successful in describing the behaviour of nature down to very small scales.

The unique properties of quantum mechanics can sometimes be surprising and unintuitive but also lead to unprecedented opportunities in applications. The Chair of Optical Quantum Technologies (OQT) studies quantum phenomena and its technological applications particularly in the optical domain.
